My best friends were always straight because I loved straight boys. I never touched them and they never touched me. I have heard, “you made me respect gay people” multiple times. I was learning to emulate them. I got straighter as I got older. I rode a skateboard because you never saw a gay guy on a straightboard that I knew of. My ex and I only cried once together. We sat on the couch and admitted to each other that we hated being gay and cried. Never to be done again after that. He and I loved watching Glee and American Idol together. Lol I was completely surprised when gay marriage got approved. He nor I are the marrying type, but my website’s logo turned a rainbow instead of the normal black. We both cried that day too. After the hate crime I witnessed on South Beach, I hated myself so much that I literally went back in the closet at the restaurant that I worked at last. After six months, my friend Edgar finally figured me out. I came in on my skateboard singing “Let It Grow” from the movie Dr. Seuss’s The Lorax one too many times… Lol He asked me at work one day, “what would you think of this place as a gay restaurant?” He saw the panic on my face. I said “Well it used to be a gay bar.” He had figured me out. When there was a gay pride parade, I would never go but I would skateboard along the route in the park and I would sit at the Starbucks behind my laptop and watch the guys. Some locals and select tourists knew. Lol
